Man Drowns In Oakland County Lake: Sheriff
Officials said the Macomb County man jumped from a boat for a swim and wasn't able to get back to the boat safely.
ORCHARD LAKE VILLAGE, MI — A Macomb County man drowned Sunday in an Oakland County lake, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
Luay Bahjat Hana Jr., 30, from Warren, was boating with a friend in Orchard Lake at 6:45 p.m. when he jumped off the boat for a swim, officials said.
Hana Jr. began struggling in the water and his friend, a 46-year-old Ferndale man, threw Hana Jr. a life jacket and jumped into the water to try and help him, officials said.

However, Hana Jr. disappeared underwater before the 46-year-old Ferndale man reached him, officials said.
Dive teams later found Hana Jr. roughly 31 feet underwater about 300 feet from shore, officials said.

Officials pulled Hana Jr. from the water and determined he drowned, the sheriff's office said.
Officials were still investigating the incident.
