'Oily Substance' Intentionally Dumped On Major Oakland Co. Road: Cops
Although officials didn't know exactly what the oily substance was, they determined it wasn't harmful, according to police.
WEST BLOOMFIELD, MI — Police believe an oil spill that closed part of a major road in West Bloomfield early Tuesday morning was "likely intentional."
Square Lake Road between St. Joseph Street and Pine Ridge Road, just west of Middlebelt Road, was closed for several hours Tuesday morning after officials found an oily substance on the road that was causing slick conditions for drivers, according to police.
Officials cleaned up the oily substance and reopened the road Tuesday morning around 7 p.m., but they encouraged drivers to take a different route.

Police believe the driver of a box truck was responsible for dumping the oily substance on the road sometime between 10:45 and 11 p.m. Monday night.
