Red Wings Coach Donates Ultimate Opening Day Package

Detroit Red Wings legend Ted Lindsay and Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill and his wife Erica have joined the honorary host committee for Wine for the Spirit, a Beaumont Health Foundation benefit for Beaumont Children’s programs taking place on Sunday, Sept.17 at the new Little Caesars Arena.

Other members of the honorary host committee include: Ashley and K.C. Crain; Gretchen and Ethan Davidson; Catherine and Nathan Forbes; Kelle and Christopher Ilitch; Danialle and Peter Karmanos, Jr.; and Kim and Stan Van Gundy.

In joining the committee, the Blashills donated an ULTIMATE DETROIT RED WINGS HOME OPENER EXPERIENCE to the auction. This one-of-a-kind experience includes:

  • Access for four to attend the morning skate before the regular season home opener (October 5) and arena tour with lunch at the Little Caesars Arena restaurant

Ted Lindsay is offering guests the opportunity to have their photo taken with him at the event from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and has donated items for the auction. Lindsay, through his Foundation, is one of Beaumont’s major pediatric donors supporting the autism programs of the Ted Lindsay Foundation HOPE Center at Beaumont Children’s.

Guests attending Wine for the Spirit will enjoy a sampling of fine wines from around the world, wine and food pairings, entertainment by the Rick Lieder Band and guided tours of select locations within the Little Caesars Arena. In addition, a luxury silent auction will take place offering more than 100 fine wine, travel and sports memorabilia packages. Featured packages include: Napa Valley Wine Experience; Sonoma Private Home for Six Guests; Finger Lakes Wine Tour; New York City Wine & Food Festival; Napa Valley Sightseeing Weekend Getaway: Bordeaux Wine Experience; and the newly added Ultimate Detroit Red Wings Home Opener Experience.

In its 22-year history, Wine for the Spirit has raised more than $7.1 million for various health programs.

Proceeds this year will fund: leading edge technology to help children with cancer, epilepsy, or other health concerns; special training for clinical staff assisting mothers and newborns at the Karmanos Birth Center; patient scholarships for specialized therapies including speech, and physical rehabilitation for children with special needs; autism programs at the Ted Lindsay Foundation HOPE Center and Center for Exceptional Families; and inpatient comfort programs like pet-assisted-therapy and art and music activities to reduce anxiety and promote healing.
