West Bloomfield DECA Earns Fifty-Four Awards at State Conference

Eighteen West Bloomfield High School Students to Represent Michigan DECA at The International Career Conference

Detroit, Michigan – West Bloomfield High School, DECA earned fifty-four awards at the Michigan DECA State Career Development Conference. Twenty-eight students were finalists in the state. Eighteen students from West Bloomfield School District will represent Michigan at the DECA International Career Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, this April.

March 10-12th, forty-one students from the West Bloomfield High School DECA chapter attended the State Career Development Conference in Detroit, Michigan. This was a weekend leadership and business conference and competition. To advance to the International Conference, students had to place high enough at the DECA State Career Development Conference event held at Huntington Center in Detroit. West Bloomfield High School competed against 4,500 marketing students from schools across the state.

Below are the students recognized among the top six in their category in Michigan. They will represent West Bloomfield School District and Michigan DECA at the International Career Development Conference:

In addition, West Bloomfield High School was recognized with the, "Gimme 5 Award" based on the increase in student membership for the chapter over the one school year. WBHS also earned the title of, "All-Star Chapter" for the 2022-2022 school year. The third award of gold recertification was earned for the high school's hands-on marketing learning laboratory Laker Landing.

DECA is an International Competitive Business Organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in four fields: marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. Our DECA chapter integrates classroom instruction, applies learning, connects to business, and promotes competition to prepare the next generation to be academically prepared, community-oriented, professionally responsible, and experienced leaders. Students enrolled in Growing Your own business I & II, Marketing, Sports and Entertainment Marketing or Advanced Marketing, Personal Finance, Accounting, Advanced Placement Micro and Macroeconomics or Fashion can participate in the West Bloomfield DECA co-curricular organization.
