West Bloomfield High School Students Qualify for DECA State Conference

Fifty-six West Bloomfield High School Students Qualify for State Competition

Berkeley, MI – The West Bloomfield High School DECA Chapter achieved remarkable success at the Michigan DECA District 6 Awards Ceremony on December 9, 2023. West Bloomfield proudly secured a total of thirty awards, with eight commendable test medallions and thirteen earned through role-play performances. A notable sixteen students were distinguished as finalists in their respective categories, earning the prestigious opportunity to represent the school district at the State Career Development Conference from March 16-18. Those who qualify at the state level will further advance to represent the State of Michigan at the International level in April.

The District Conference Competition unfolded in two distinct phases, bringing together approximately 700 high school students from across Oakland County, all vying for the chance to progress to the State competition in March. The first segment of the competition occurred in November, featuring a 100-question multiple-choice exam conducted online, covering a spectrum of categories from Sports and Entertainment Marketing to Finance. The second segment comprised role-play scenarios, with participants having either 10 or 30 minutes of preparation time in a virtual format, presented to local business members. The cumulative scores from the test and role-play segments determined the overall finalists.

We take great pride in acknowledging the exceptional achievements of the following Michigan DECA State Career Development qualifiers. They will join our written project competitors for a total of fifty-six state competitors.:
