West Bloomfield Neighbor's Big Game Recipe: Bacon Wrapped Smokies
This neighbor's recipe of bacon, smokie links, brown sugar and butter will leave you salivating.

WEST BLOOMFIELD, MI — If you plan it right, the snacks at your football watch party on Feb. 11 will be as much discussed as the key plays. When we asked West Bloomfield readers to submit their MVP-worthy recipes, Michael McDaniel submitted this recipe:
Bacon Wrapped Smokies in Brown Sugar and Butter
- 1 pound bacon
- 1 pound smokie links
- 1 stick butter
- 2 cup brown sugar
- Preheat oven to 375F. Cut the bacon into thirds and wrap each smokie. Place all the wrapped smokies in a single layer in a baking dish. Then melt the stick of butter and then 1 cup of brown sugar and stir until mixed well. Pour the butter and brown sugar mixture on the smokies and bacon. Then take the other cup of brown sugar and sprinkle evenly over the smokies. Bake them for about 15-20 minutes and then turn the heat up to 400F for about 5 minutes or longer until the bacon becomes crispy.
You can still submit recipes for appetizers, dishes or snacks to inspire others who are fourth and long and short on ideas. Be sure to tell us why your guests will do a touchdown dance over your party spread.
