Employee at Wyandotte Spa Named Detroit Pride Cheerleader

Felicia Kollias, 20, of Riverview has had a virtual lifetime of sports and dance to prepare her for her audition to become a member of the Detroit Pride Cheerleaders.

When Felicia Kollias, 20, of Riverview isn't working at 3152 Studio in Wyandotte, she has plenty to fill her time.

Kollias is a recent addition to the Detroit Pride Cheerleaders and a student at Henry Ford Community College.

Kollias said she didn't prepare for her audition for the professional cheer and dance squad that cheer for Detroit sports teams, but nailed it all the same.

"It was just spur of the moment," Kollias said. "I was really excited when I found out I was selected."

Kollias has had a virtual lifetime of sports and dance to prepare her for the audition. She played tennis in high school and college and danced hip hop and ballet throughout most of her adolescence.

"I think I've always had rhythm, since I was a kid," Kollias said.

After being recruited by the University of Detroit Mercy to play tennis, Kollias transferred schools to follow her dream of becoming an elementary school teacher. She plans to transfer again to the University of Michigan-Dearborn to complete her goal.

Until then, Kollias said she's just going with the flow and staying true to the morals and values she promotes as a Sunday school teacher at a church in Riverview.

"I'm keeping it classy and fabulous," Kollias said.

The Detroit Pride Cheerleaders mission is to to become sanctioned by the Detroit Lions and the NFL, to establish themselves as positive role models for youth in the community and to help with charitable causes across the state, according to the Detroit Pride Cheerleaders website.
