Roosevelt Student Takes Second in Statewide Poetry Competition

Occasionally, the way in which a poem is presented is as important as the poem itself.
Roosevelt High School senior Cameron Snyder-Pitts might have had this in mind when she grabbed the second runner-up spot at a statewide poetry reading competition called Poetry Out Loud.
Snyder-Pitts competed against 36 other high school students at the two-day competition held at the East Lansing Hannah Community Center on Feb. 22 and 23.

Poetry Out Loud is a national program of the National Endowment of the Arts and The Poetry Foundation that began in 2005 through a partnership with the Michigan Humanities Council and Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs, according to Michigan Humanities Council release.
