Wayne County Electric Scooter Rider Hit By Car, Critically Injured: Police

Police do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

SOUTHGATE, MI — A downriver resident was seriously injured after getting hit by a car while riding an electric scooter Monday, according to police.

The crash happened at 6:10 p.m. Monday on southbound Fort Street at Eureka Road in Southgate, according to police.

Police said the driver had a green light at the intersection, when the scooter rider crossed all lanes of traffic in the crosswalk and was hit.

The Wyandotte scooter rider was found unconscious in the street and taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, according to police.

The driver, a Maybee woman, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, according to police.
