Wyandotte Business Woman Creates a Monster, Sells Hundreds
Brittany Martin created a little green guy out of fabric and cotton and, soon after, opened Little Green Guy located at 2955 Biddle Ave.
What began as a gift for her 12-year-old sister has turned Brittany Martin into one of Wyandotte's newest independent business owners.
Martin, 25, of Flat Rock, made a green, one-eyed monster out of fabric and cotton about two years ago and has since sold hundreds of versions of the Little Green Guy online and in her store--at 2955 Biddle Avenue.
Little Green Guy, located behind Bank of America in Wyandotte, opened on March 15 with great success. Martin said she sold nearly her entire stock of hand-made monsters.

Martin said the idea for Little Green Guy came to her in a random stroke of genius.
"I like to give different things, and I don't like gender stereotypes," Martin said.

Little Green Guy is available in several different mediums including clay figurines, drawings and photos.
There's also a Little Green Guy book, which was sold out Friday, called "Little Green Guy Finds a Friend," written by Martin.
In the book, Little green Guy learns finding a friend can be hard and is afraid he will never fit in; until the right friend comes along to show him that being different is okay, according to Martin.
Martin's newest one-eyed creation called Charlies were inspired by a dog toy.
"I try to think of anything that would look cute with one eye," Martin said.
Martin's said her two young children have enjoyed her artistic flair.
"They still think every kid's mom makes monsters," Martin said.
