Minnesotans Say These Are The 'Strangest' Towns In The State

Minnesotans on Reddit shared the strangest towns they've been to. From creepy vibes to space obsessions, these were the top picks.

MINNESOTA — Some places in Minnesota just feel… off. Locals say it’s hard to explain, maybe it’s the empty streets, the weird landmarks, or just the strange energy.

In a recent Reddit thread, users were asked to name the “strangest” towns in the state and share why. The answers ranged from mildly quirky to full-on creepy, and a few might surprise you.

Cosmos: Too On-The-Nose?

One Redditor, RacingPride, suggested that Cosmos, Minnesota, might be a little too obsessed with outer space, and not just in name.

"Cosmos… I have a theory that actual aliens live there, Men In Black style, wearing Edgar suits. They glorify space in that town by the name of the city itself, in street names, and the signage. I’m sorry, but everyone I’ve ever met that lives there is just a bit… off… like they don’t know how to be human… still learning our ways.
I also live only 30 miles away and have NEVER met someone who “grew up” there, only people who “live” there."

Park Rapids: Parking for Zombies?

According to one Redditor, accountredditmy, Park Rapids is charming, but has a strangely apocalyptic vibe:

“Park Rapids, only because parking in the middle of the street weirds me out,” wrote accountredditmy. “It looks like there was a zombie apocalypse or something. Cute town though.”

Buyck: Is It Even a Town?

Redditor u/FabulousValuable2643 threw Buyck into the mix, writing:

“Buyck, only cuz no one seems to know it exists.”

That led u/beavertwp to chime in with a reality check:

“It’s not even a town. There isn’t even any neighborhoods. It’s a bar next to a river.”

Unfazed, u/FabulousValuable2643 clarified the local amenities:

“Lol, to be fair there are at least two bars, a crappy 9-hole golf course, and a bear lady.”

Then u/NeedAnEasyName wrapped it all up perfectly:

“That sounds like the least strange Minnesota town.”

Rochester: A City in Theory?

Redditor u/Basic_Record3542 didn’t hold back with their take on Rochester:

“Rochester looks like it's trying its absolute best to be some sort of city but has never seen a real city in its life.”

Then u/secondarycontrol swooped in with a surgical burn:

“Mayo is the city — Rochester is some sort of support organism.”

The Iron Range: Eyes on You

When u/ashleymanda nominated Hibbing, or really any town on the Iron Range, for strangest in Minnesota, it struck a nerve.

“Hibbing. Or almost any town on the Iron Range.”

u/lulubedo188 backed that up with a classic small-town horror movie moment:

“I swear you go into any of the Iron Range restaurants as an outsider and literally everyone stops talking and eating to stare!”
