Moorhead Grieves 9-Year-Old Killed In Crosswalk: ‘His Spirit Brought Joy’
A 9-year-old boy who was struck and killed while crossing the street in Moorhead is being remembered as a joyful, bright light.

MOORHEAD, MN — A 9-year-old boy who was struck and killed while crossing the street in Moorhead is being remembered as a joyful, bright light in his community.
Adam Zakaria Amin was hit by a truck around 11:45 a.m. on July 31 at the intersection of 40th Avenue and 14th Street South, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The crash happened while Adam was walking in the crosswalk, authorities said.
He died at the scene.

The driver of the truck, a 64-year-old man from West Fargo, was not injured. Authorities said alcohol was not a factor, and the road was dry at the time. No charges have been filed.
The GoFundMe campaign, titled Support Zakaria Amin's Family in Loss, has raised nearly $50,000 a week later.

A fundraiser launched in the wake of the tragedy describes Adam as a boy whose “smile could light up a room” and whose spirit “brought joy to everyone who knew him.”
"This devastating loss has left his family in unimaginable pain," the organizers wrote. "No amount of money can ever bring Adam back or ease the grief his loved ones are feeling. But in this time of sorrow, we ask for your support to help ease the financial burden that comes with laying him to rest."
The crash remains under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol and local authorities.
