29-Year-Old Killed In Head-On Crash On Highway 52
The three-car crash in the south Twin Cities metro crash left one man dead and another injured.
DAKOTA COUNTY, MN — A 29-year-old St. Paul man was killed Saturday morning in a three-car crash on Highway 52 in the south Twin Cities metro.
At about 11:45 a.m., a 2006 BMW sedan was traveling northbound on Highway 52 in Vermillion Township when it veered off to the southbound lanes of traffic and was struck head-on by a dump truck, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The debris from the initial crash then hit a 2011 Buick Lacrosse that was behind the dump truck, authorities said.

The driver of the BMW — Gabriel Christopher Lilja — died at the scene. It's not clear if alcohol was a factor in his driving, according to investigators.
The driver of the dump truck — a 39-year-old man from Welch, Minnesota — suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Regions Hospital.

The Buick driver — a 66-year-old woman from Apple Valley — was not injured in the crash, according to authorities.
