3-Year-Old Killed In Head-On Crash In Dakota County

It is "unknown" if alcohol was a factor in the woman's driving, authorities said.​​

HAMPTON, MN — A 3-year-old boy was killed and a woman suffered life-threatening injuries after a crash on Highway 52 in Hampton, just south of Hastings.

On Monday just after 10:30 a.m., a semi-flatbed was traveling southbound Highway 52.

Meanwhile, a Toyota Camry traveling northbound on Highway 52 crossed the center line and collided with the semi head-on, investigators said.

A 3-year-old boy in the Camry died in the crash.

The Camry driver — a 28-year-old St. Paul woman — was transported to Regions Hospital with life-threatening injuries. It is "unknown" if alcohol was a factor in her driving, authorities said.

The semi-driver — a 39-year-old Florida man — suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Conditions were wet at the time of the crash, according to investigators.
