Arthur Andrew Blomquist, 80, loving husband, stepfather, grandfather, uncle, and loyal friend to many, passed away peacefully after a heroic battle with Alzheimer's on Jan. 12, 2013.
Born in Minneapolis, Feb. 25, 1932, Art was a kind, gentle soul, easily sharing his love without question. In Art's early years, he delighted in keeping physically active, a boy scout for many years. He was an accomplished sailor and loved water & down-hill skiing. Art graduated Roosevelt High School, was in the Naval Reserve for 8 years and took up printing at Jones Press, which eventually led him to his 28 year career at the Star Tribune.
Art was a loving & devoted son staying at his parents' sides until they passed. Art married the love of his life Doris Ratzlaff in 1987 and they took up an active life participating in bowling leagues with many friends. Doris kept Art's mind alert with a spirited and, at times, nagging nudge and banter. Art remained dedicated at Doris' side until her death in 2007.
