Applications For Rosemount Garden Plots Accepted Until March 31
With demand for plots expected to exceed supply, the city said it will hold a lottery to determine who will be awarded a plot.
ROSEMOUNT, MN —Locals with a green thumb have until March 31 to submit their application for a Rosemount garden plot to the city's Parks and Recreation Department, the city said.
With demand for plots expected to exceed supply, the city said it will hold a lottery to determine who will be awarded a plot.
"The lottery will be conducted and gardeners will be notified of their plot assignment in early April," according to the city.

On its website, the city of Rosemount offered a number of guidelines that gardeners must follow when taking care of a plot. These include: supplying their own seeds, only planting annual plants and not shading their neighbors' plots.
There also are rules for disposing of plants, rocks and other materials.
Gardeners also are expected to keep plots free of weeds, and they are required to do so through cultivation and mulches, rather than pesticides or weed killers.
At the end of the season, gardeners are expected to harvest all produce and remove items like fencing, stakes, supports and row markers.
"Gardeners who fail to properly clean up their plot at the end of the season will not be awarded a plot in the future," the city said in a statement.
All plots will be plowed under at the end of the season, according to the city.
Anybody with questions about the garden plots should direct them to the Rosemount Parks and Recreation office at parks@ci.rosemount.mn.us or (651) 322-6000.
