Dakota County Technical College Receives $100K Grant

Dakota County Technical College said it will use the grant to expand its associate degree and certificate programs in HVAC.

ROSEMOUNT, MN — Dakota County Technical College recently announced that it received a $100,000 grant from Johnson Controls Community College Partnership Program.

Johnson Controls is a building technology and software company, according to a news release from DCTC.

Dakota County Technical College said it will use the grant to expand its associate degree and certificate programs in HVAC(heating, ventilation and air conditioning).

“The ultimate goal for Dakota County Technical College (DCTC) is to expand our current HVAC
Refrigeration space to accommodate the demand for our program, enhance our current efforts to
increase diversity in the program, and incorporate additional academic and professional supports for underrepresented students to foster success,” Kim Shaff, Executive Director of the DCTC
Foundation, said.

Since it was created in 2021, the Johnson Controls Community College Partnership Program will fund $15 million to non-profit community colleges for HVAC, fire, security and digital academic programs over the next five years, according to the news release.
