Genesis Jazz Orchestra To Play Free Concert June 5

The concert will be at 7 p.m. at The Well- a church in Rosemount.

DAKOTA COUNTY, MN — Genesis Jazz Orchestra, an ensemble of Rosemount Community Band, announced that it will play a free concert June 5 at at The Well, a United Methodist Church, in Rosemount at 7 p.m. The concert will be held outdoors, weather permitting, according to GJO.

The concert will feature jazz favorites and contemporary compositions, the ensemble said.

Here are two additional upcoming GJO concerts:

  • June 12: GJO will play in Minnesota Festival of Jazz on the Prairie, at Staring Lake Park in Eden Prairie. The event will start at noon and will feature a different band each hour, as well as a BBQ fest. GJO said it will play at 5 p.m.
  • June 22: 7 p.m. at Rosemount's Central Park Bandshell

GJO is made up of members across the southeast metro and was established in 2018, the ensemble said. Many of its members have degrees in music and/or are current or retired music educators, GJO said.

In addition to playing around Rosemount, GJO said it also performs at school jazz concerts, festivals, Jazz Central Studios in Minneapolis and at city band shells and parks. The ensemble was also recently featured on Twin Cities Weekend.
