Music Tributes at the Steeple Center
The Rosemount Area Arts Council (RAAC) is presenting a variety of tribute concerts in the next few months at the Steeple Center. Included are tributes to Billy Joel and Elton John, January 19; Legends of the Surf Ballroom, January 26; ABBA, April 12; Michael Bublé̀̀, April 19; and Queen on May 17.
Phil Thompson (WCCO TV’s “Man About Town”) returns to the Steeple Center on Friday, January 19 at 7 pm. He is an internationally acclaimed pop pianist and touring artist. He has toured across the globe performing at venues including Mandalay Bay and Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, the MGM Grand in Macau, and many of the globe's top sporting events. In his show, “A Tribute to Billy & Elton The Hits,” he will perform a night of Billy Joel and Elton John’s biggest hits, including “Bennie & The Jets”, “Your Song”, “My Life”, “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant”, “Rocket Man”, “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me”, “Crocodile Rock”, “Movin’ Out”, “Daniel”, “New York State of Mind,” and of course, “Piano Man”!

The Surf Ballroom is a Historic Rock and Roll Landmark in Clear Lake, Iowa. Early rock and roll stars Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J. P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson gave their last performances at the Surf on February 2, 1959. “Legends of the Surf Ballroom” is a tribute to these legends, along with Dion and the Belmonts, Bobby Vee, and special guest, Roy Orbison. The tribute show will be on Friday, January 26, at 7 pm.
