One Act Play Writing Class

The Rosemount Area Arts Council will be offering a playwriting class beginning on Monday, February 6, 2023 and will run on Mondays through February 27, from 1-3 PM. This is a four-session class which will give the student a comprehensive study of the history and practice of playwriting, with exercises which will enable the student to work toward writing a short play. The student will receive instruction as well as practice in observing the world as a playwright, creating settings, building characters, writing a scene, building conflict, balancing the comedic and the serious, and copyright law.

Completed One Act plays may be selected to be performed during ArtBlast this summer. The Short Play festival will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at the Steeple Center in Rosemount. Other plays may also be submitted for consideration, even if the class isn’t taken.

MINIMUM CLASS SIZE 4, MAXIMUM CLASS SIZE 8

Keith Reed has written over thirty plays ranging including full-length biographical plays, Mystery plays, radio plays and melodramas. He has been active in Theater and Musical theater in Japan and in the Twin Cities for over forty years, as an actor, Director, and producer.
