These 10 Cities Saw The Highest Snowfall This Week: MN Weather

This has officially been the 17th snowiest winter on record for the Twin Cities metro area, and it's not done with us yet.

APPLE VALLEY, MN — Twenty inches of snow fell in Apple Valley during the course of this week's three-day storm, according to an unofficial measurement reported to the National Weather Service.

The measurement was taken at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday and is the highest amount reported so far.

Though much of the Twin Cities region generally saw less snowfall than what was originally forecasted, the storm appears to have fully delivered in some areas, including the south metro.

These 10 places saw the most snow, according to the latest measurements:

  1. Apple Valley: 20 inches
  2. Prior Lake: 17.5 inches
  3. Savage: 17.1
  4. Burnsville: 16.9 inches
  5. Eagan: 16.7 inches
  6. Northeast Minneapolis: 16.7 inches
  7. Hopkins: 16.4
  8. Victoria: 16.3
  9. Chanhassen NWS site: 16 inches
  10. Farmington: 15.8 inches

Following this week's snowstorm, the 2022-2023 winter season is officially the 17th snowiest winter on record thus far for the Twin Cities, according to the NWS.

Looking ahead, temperatures will take a significant nosedive on Friday before warming up again on Saturday. Here's the specific NWS forecast from the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport:

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a low around -6. Wind chill values as low as -13. Northwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 11. Wind chill values as low as -19. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.

Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of snow before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 1. South southeast wind around 5 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 26. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 9. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west northwest after midnight.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 33. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.

Sunday Night: A chance of freezing rain between 7pm and 1am, then rain likely, possibly mixed with freezing rain. Increasing clouds, with a low around 28. East southeast wind around 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Monday: Rain and snow likely, possibly mixed with freezing rain before 11am, then rain and snow likely between 11am and 4pm, then a chance of snow after 4pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. East wind 10 to 15 mph becoming north northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Monday Night: A 50 percent chance of snow before 7pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 21. West northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 35. West wind 10 to 15 mph.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east after midnight.

Wednesday: A 40 percent chance of snow. Partly sunny, with a high near 35. East wind 10 to 15 mph
