ALERT: Crash on Interstate 35 E Brings Northbound Lanes to Standstill
What appears to be a two car accident has brought traffic to a halt on the east branch of Interstate 35 near the exit for County Road 11.
What appears to be a two-car crash has occurred in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 East, between County Road 11 and Cliff Road. One car is disable on the shoulder. Another badly damaged vehicle lies at the top of a steep embankment. Traffic is at a standstill. Alternate routes suggested. More details to follow as soon as they are available.
UPDATE, 12:51 p.m. Burnsville Fire Chief BJ Jungmann reports that city emergency response went out to the crash scene around 10 a.m. where they found one battered vehicle up against the soundwall. The report was initially called in as a rollover with a vehicle fire, but Jungmann said the apparent smoke reported was dust from airbags deploying, a common occurrence at crash scenes.
Fire fighters extricated one adult, who was then transported to Regions Hospital. Jungmann said the victim was in serious condition at the scene, but did not have any information.
