Angie Craig Announces Re-Election Campaign

MINNESOTA — Angie Craig announced that she plans to run for re-election in Minnesota's newly drawn 2nd Congressional District.

She announced her plans to run at an event over the weekend that was attended by Sen. Karla Bigham (DFL-Cottage Grove), Sen. Jim Carlson (DFL-Eagan) and Dakota County Commissioner Laurie Halverson, as well as Craig's supporters, according to the campaign's news release.

The newly re-drawn district includes:

• All of Dakota County
• All of Scott County
• Le Sueur
• Portions of Washington County
• Portions of Rice County

At her event, Craig praised the Democratic Party.

"The unbelievable turnout here today goes to show just how motivated Democrats are this cycle," she said. "That’s because when you elect a Democrat after enduring 70 years of Republican leadership, you notice when infrastructure improvements come to your district, healthcare costs go down and small businesses and working families take priority over corporate interests."

"The folks here today know we can take nothing for granted this upcoming November," she continued. "We have too much left to do."

Craig is running against Tyler Kistner, who she narrowly beat by two percentage points in the 2020 elections.

Kistner announced his campaign for the 2022 elections back in April 2021.

He made a statement following the redrawing of district lines in Minnesota in February.

"Today, the Minnesota Supreme Court finalized new district lines for the Minnesota Congressional maps," he said. "Our campaign is excited for the opportunity to grow our grassroots movement by listening to and serving hardworking families in Dakota, Scott, Rice, southern Washington and Le Sueur counties."

"One thing is clear, Angie Craig's days in Congress are numbered," Kistner continued. "She continues to place the priorities of Joe Biden and her Washington allies above the interests of Minnesotans. I look forward to bringing an independent voice to Congress, and I will always work to put Minnesota first and prioritize finding common-sense solutions that benefit our communities."
