BHS Debuts Video Memorializing 'Scherman' the Robot

Burnsville high recently uploaded a video dedicated to "Scherman," a tank-treaded, basketball shooting machine that carried them into the top 10 at the 10,000 Lakes Regional competition.

The mascot of the Robotics Team at Burnsville High may be gone, but it is certainly not forgotten.

Students recently uploaded a video dedicated to Scherman, a machine built in 2012 for the game "Rebound Rumble." The highlight reel shows Scherman's genesis, the testing process and its triumphant run on the basketball court—where Scherman was a sure shot and even a bit of a wrangler.

Ultimately, Scherman and the team took seventh place out of 65 at the 10,000 Lakes Regional.

"He was a major milestone for the team who, until then, had a somewhat lackluster history at competition," the team writes.

Scherman's "brain" has been extracted from his "body" for use in the team's 2013 robot, Big Macintosh.
