BHS Nominated for 13 Regional Film Awards

Burnsville High students were nominated in 13 different categories for the Upper Midwest Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences' Regional Student Production Awards.

Burnsville High School students have been nominated in 13 categories for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences 2013 Upper Midwest Regional Student Production Awards

Winners will be announced on Sunday, April 14 at a ceremony at the Theaters at Mall of America. 

Junior Scott Svare is nominated in seven categories, as an individual for best editor and best photographer and for best public service announcement, public affairs video, commercial, animated short, and best documentary. The last is a collaboration with fellow student Stephen Browman called "Sight Without Eyes," which debuted last April. The film has already won the top prize at last year's .EDU Film Fest.

Come April 14, Svare will be in good company, however. Other nominees from BHS include:

• Blaze Weekly – Newscast
• Noura Elmanssy and Thomas Lidholm – Music Video (shown above)
• Outside the Box – Live Sports Event
• Clay Hurlbut - Talent
• Kelly Below – Director
• Ian Fee - Writing

The awards program recognizes excellence in media production at both the high school and college level. NATAS, as it is known, includes Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and western Wisconsin.
