Burnsville Detective Builds Tactical Robot: Report

Nearly a dozen have been sold to police departments across the U.S.

BURNSVILLE, MN — SWAT Team member and detective for the Burnsville Police Department Shawn Mahaney has built a tactical robot for police across the U.S., FOX 9 reported.

Mahaney is the founder of Tactical R/C and developed "Vantage," a four-wheel robot that can carry a body camera or cell phone and stream footage back to its operator, who is a safe distance away, according to the report.

Instead of costing upwards of $10,000 like many tactical robots, Vantage only costs $2,500, FOX 9 reported. Mahaney has already sold nearly a dozen Vantages to police departments across the county, the report said.
