Burnsville Names New City Manager

Gregg Lindberg had previously been interim city manager and was officially promoted Tuesday.

BURNSVILLE, MN — The city of Burnsville officially named Gregg Lindberg as city manager at a City Council meeting on Tuesday.

City Council had made the decision to give him the job permanently at its April 11 meeting, the city said. He had previously been the interim city manager following the resignation of previous city manager Melanie Lee in January.

"Gregg is the right leader for our organization in this pivotal moment in Burnsville’s future," Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth Kautz said. "He’s familiar with our work, but more importantly he’s passionate about our values. He cares deeply about our community, our organization and our staff. In the months since Gregg became Interim City Manager, we have seen for ourselves and heard from staff that the organization is on a stable path with a new culture of energy, excitement and openness."

Lindberg was hired as deputy city manager in 2019, according to the city.

He has a Master's degree in public administration from Hamline University and a Master's degree in organizational leadership and an undergraduate degree in business administration both from Bethel University, the city said.

Before working for Burnsville, Lindberg was the HR manager at Three Rivers Park District for 13 years and served as a member of city council in St. Louis Park from 2014-2018, according to the city.
