Burnsville Unveils New Fire Station
The new fire station was built to prioritize the wellbeing of the city's firefighters and and paramedics.

BURNSVILLE, MN — The city of Burnsville recently announced the opening of Fire Station No. 1, which officially opened in late January.
During the opening ceremony, Fire Chief BJ Jungmann, Mayor Elizabeth Kautz and Interim City Manager Gregg Lindberg discussed what went into the planning and construction of the new station, the city said.

- Three contamination zones to combat the risk of carcinogens
- Training components throughout the station to create opportunities for firefighters to practice important skills
- Private sleeping areas, bathrooms, kitchen amenities and workout facilities
- Sustainable building standard such as high-efficiency mechanical units, storm
water for irrigation, natural light and more
"We are fortunate to be one of the few fire departments in the state with all career firefighters and of those we are one of very few that have the privilege of providing advanced life support ambulance service to the community," Jungmann said. "Our profession continues to change rapidly and this facility will allow us to adapt and grow into the future so that we can continue the honor of service with care, compassion and excellence."
There will be an open house for residents to tour the new station on May 7, the city said.
