Burnsville Woman Charged with Threatening Grandmother, Stepfather

A Burnsville woman has been charged with threatening to assault her grandmother and stab her stepfather after she was kicked out of her grandmother’s house.

Canada Baronetta Lymon, 21, is charged with making terroristic threats, a felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called to a home in the 14200 block of Irving Avenue on at about 6:30 p.m. Aug. 8 on a report of a woman threatening her stepfather with a knife. 

Police found Lymon outside the house and arrested her, then found a knife on the ground near her, according to the complaint.

Lymon’s stepfather told police that Lymon had been staying in the home, which her grandmother owns, but that she had kicked Lymon out of the house that morning. After her grandmother left, Lymon returned, and her stepfather confronted her upstairs about being in the house, according to the complaint.

The two began to argue, and Lymon grabbed “some type of stick,” which her stepfather wrested away from her, the complaint says. The argument continued downstairs, and when Lymon’s grandmother returned, Lymon began to shout at her, according to the complaint.

Lymon went into the kitchen and grabbed a steak knife, threatened to assault her grandmother and yelled at her stepfather that he wasn’t “going to put his hand on her anymore,” the complaint says.

Lymon’s grandmother told police that she feared for her life and her son’s life.

In a statement to police, Lymon said she had returned to her grandmother’s house to get some clothes and some information off a computer, according to the complaint. She said she began to argue with her stepfather, who pushed her and then grabbed and twisted her wrist “until it almost broke,” the complaint says.

Lymon said she grabbed a knife from the kitchen because she “doesn’t let anyone touch her like that,” the complaint charges. She admitted threatening to stab her stepfather, but denied threatening her grandmother, according to the complaint.

Lymon has been released from jail on her promise to make all future court appearances and to take prescribed medications. An omnibus hearing in her case is scheduled Oct. 30 in Dakota County District Court in Hastings.
