Developers Make Pitch for Hilton Garden Inn in Heart of the City
This week the council will consider plans submitted by a development company from North Dakota, which hopes to build a 90-unit hotel with restaurant on a city-owned plot.

A hole in the Heart of the City may soon be filed.
Tuesday, the Burnsville City Council will consider a proposal to build a Hilton Garden Inn on an empty, city-owned lot between Travelers Trail West and Pillsbury Avenue. The 1.75 acre parcel was originally part of a larger purchase by the city in 2001, which included land now occupied by The Burnsville Performing Arts Center, Mediterranean Cruise Café, and a multi-level parking lot.
After 12 long years, the city at last has a proper suitor: Akota Hospitality, LLC , a developer based in Dickinson, ND which hopes to buy the land for $503,600 and erect a 90-unit hotel including restaurant and meeting space.
The council will consider the offer on Tuesday, during a special meeting of the Economic Development Authority.
