Fairview Ridges Kicks Off $60 Million Expansion Project

Fairview Ridges Hospital is in for a bit of a boom.

If all goes according to plan, the $60 million project will include a new 150,000-square-foot specialty care medical office building, a hospital expansion and parking ramp. Fairview will also be expanding the hospital itself, with 12 to 16 more beds in an observational area. The number of inpatient beds will remain the same—at 150. 

"This project has been in the planning stage for several years, and I am thrilled about the board’s decision to move forward,” said hospital President Beth Krehbiel said in a news release. “This much-needed expansion will allow us to enhance our outpatient specialty services and adapt to an aging patient population that has evolving health care concerns.”

Construction will begin in earnest during spring 2013. Officials expect to wrap up the project by late 2014 or early 2015.

Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Services unveiled plans on Thursday, Nov. 1. The plan was approved by the board last month. It is just the latest project in a series of expansion at the campus. In 2011, Fairview opened a new and improved Breast Center and this August the group broke ground on Arbors II at Ridges, a $12 million assisted living community.
