Main Campus of Burnsville High Under Partial Lockdown After Fight

District officials say an isolated incident—a fight—prompted the suspension of six students and a modified lockdown at the school on Wednesday.

Burnsville High's main campus was placed under a modified lockdown after a fight involving six students on Wednesday.

Six students have been suspended as a result of the incident. When asked if any arrests had been made, Dunn referred the question to the Burnsville police. Patch is still awaiting a response from the PD.

Wednesday afternoon, district officials said that the lockdown was instituted "out of an abundance of caution," rather than an active threat against the general student population. When asked for specifics of the incident, the district described it as "an altercation that took place between some students" earlier that morning.

No weapons were involved. The incident did not put other students in danger, district Communications Director Ruth Dunn wrote.

During a "modified lockdown" students follow their regular class schedule, but movement around the school is restricted outside of passing time. The campus was also subject to stepped up police presence for the remainder of Wednesday.
