According to the criminal complaint, Burnsville police were called to a hotel just after 10:30 p.m. Aug. 6 after a woman reported that she had been slashed with a knife.
The victim suffered cuts on her upper arm and wrist. She told police that an intoxicated Griffin had taken a knife from the kitchen of their hotel room and slashed her, then passed out on the bed.

The victim told police that she and Griffin had argued before he grabbed the knife. Before he did, he said, “I am not going to hit you this time,” then began making light cuts on her arm, she said.
The victim said Griffin then said, “The next one is going to be worse,” and continued to slash her, she said, even though she said she asked him three times to stop. He also blocked the door so she couldn’t leave the room, she told police.
Griffin admitted to police that he had drunk about a pint of vodka, but said he didn’t remember cutting the victim.
Griffin’s criminal record includes convictions earlier this year for domestic assault by strangulation and violating a protection order.
