• Man arrested and charged in Burnsville park assault (kare11.com) — A 74-year-old woman was assaulted on a trail in Burnsville’s Crystal Lake West Park on New Year’s Day, and police say a 23-year-old suspect has now been arrested and charged. Burnsville police credit residents’ security footage and tips with helping them quickly identify and locate the man, who is also suspected in other indecent exposure incidents in Burnsville and nearby cities.
   

• Century standout travels through Europe with Northern Lights Volleyball club team (allusanewshub.com) — A Burnsville-based Northern Lights Volleyball 16-1 club team just returned from a successful European tour, winning a major 18U tournament in Austria and placing third in the Netherlands. The roster includes standout setter Laney Stellmaker of Rochester Century, who recently surpassed 1,000 career assists and helped showcase Minnesota high school talent on an international stage.
   

• Signal group chat keeps an eye on ICE (hometownsource.com) — Burnsville residents have organized a 300-plus member Signal group to monitor and document recent ICE enforcement actions in local neighborhoods, including raids on McAndrews Road and at Connelly on Eleven Apartments. Organizers say the activity is making some immigrant families and business owners fearful, while city police emphasize they don’t participate in federal immigration enforcement but sometimes manage traffic and safety at scenes.
