Running For Office In Burnsville? File For Candidacy By May 31

BURNSVILLE, MN — If you're interested in running for office during the 2022 elections in Burnsville, you must file an affidavit for candidacy by May 31. The filing period opened Tuesday, the city said.

Seats that are up for re-election include two City Council seats.

Filings will be accepted at Burnsville City Hall, the city said.

To be eligible to file you must:

  • Be an eligible voter
  • Be at least 21 years old when assuming office
  • Reside in their districts for at least 30 days before the General Election
  • Have no other affidavit on file for any other elected office

Candidates must also pay a $20 filing fee, the city said.
