Burnsville Man Sentenced In Overdose Death Of Eagan Teen
Five-year sentences were handed down to two men found guilty in the death of a 16-year-old Eagan boy.

EAGAN, MN — A Burnsville man was sentenced to five years in prison Thursday for his role in the fatal fentanyl overdose of an Eagan teen, Dakota County Attorney Kathy Keena announced.
Sadiq Aden Isack, 29, pled guilty to one count of third-degree murder (sell, give or distribute schedule I or II controlled substance) on May 23 in the January 2021 death of 16-year-old Hunter Verner Carlson.
Isack's co-defendant — Jamal Ahmed Adan — was sentenced on the same crime in May 2023 and is now serving a 60-month sentence.

"We need to continue to hold drug dealers accountable for the harm they cause to our communities in Dakota County," said County Attorney Kathy Keena in a statement. "My deepest sympathies to Hunter’s family and all families who’ve lost a loved one to fentanyl poisoning."
Eagan police were called to a home on the morning of Jan. 28, 2021, after Carlson was found by his mother facedown and unresponsive in his bed.

Officers tried to resuscitate him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
During a search of the teen’s bedroom, investigators found a broken blue pill in a safe. The pill was later tested and was confirmed to have contained fentanyl, authorities said.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a result of positional asphyxia complicating acute fentanyl toxicity.
The night before his death, Carlson ingested Percocet with a friend who arranged the purchase of the pills from two men from Burnsville, investigators said
Footage from a home security camera showed a white car close to Carlson’s home that evening, according to authorities. The vehicle was found to belong to Isack's co-defendant, Adan, investigators said.
Weeks later, the same white car was parked at a motel in Burnsville, according to police. Officers found both Adan and Isack in a motel room with more than 30 light blue pills, similar to the pill fragment found in Carlson’s safe, authorities said.
Their cell phones were seized and forensically searched. Phone records showed text messages between Adan, Isack, and the friend on Jan. 27, 2021, police said.
