EAGAN, MN — A COVID-19 vaccination clinic for children ages 5-11 will be held Saturday from 2-5 p.m. at Easter by the Lake.

The clinic was organized by Dakota Child and Family Clinic, CommunityCare Clinics of Minnesota, Kelley Kenley and Bianca Virnig, according to a post by Kenley.

In order to sign up, you must be available for both the clinic on Saturday and the second clinic at the same time and place Nov. 27, where the second dose of the vaccine will be administered, the post says.

A few volunteers are still needed for the clinics, and the children of volunteers are guaranteed a slot to get vaccinated, according to the post. If slots are filled up, those who wish to volunteer are encouraged to contact eagankidsvaxclinic@gmail.com to potentially volunteer at a future clinic. Around 70 community members have already signed up to volunteer, according to Heather Tidd with Dakota Child and Family Clinic.

"We just want to acknowledge how amazing the community is that started this whole thing and invited us in," Tidd said. "They've been working so hard on it, and we are just proud to be a part of such an amazing community and county."

Additionally, about 10 medical volunteers are needed to administer the vaccines, Tidd told Patch. Those who wish to volunteer and are authorized to administer shots can email heather@dakotachildandfamily.org.

Those who can't find a time slot can "like" Dakota Child and Family Clinic's Facebook page to stay updated on the potential of future vaccine clinics, Tidd said.

Tidd recommends that parents who are hesitant on getting their child vaccinated for COVID-19 talk to their primary care provider for more information.

"Make an educated choice for your family," Tidd said. "But also be aware that COVID is here in huge numbers. Kids are getting COVID and getting really sick, and there is the potential of long-term effects."

You can sign up for a vaccine here.

Non-medical volunteers can sign up here, and their children can be signed up here.
