Local authorities are currently investigating a homicide that occurred near the Burnsville-Eagan border early Sunday morning.
Police responded to Nina's Grill, located on Horizon Drive, at 1:58 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22 upon receiving a report that someone had been shot, according to a news release from the Burnsville Police Department. They found a black male deceased in the parking lot.
Burnsville Police extensively searched the area for the suspect, but were unsuccessful. They do not have information on the suspect at this time.
Nina's is just a few blocks north of the scene of yet another shooting death that happened in the second week of August. Abdifatah Ahmed Mahumod, 23, died of a gunshot wound in the early morning hours of Aug. 13 in the parking lot of the Eagan Super America on Cliff and Slater roads.
However, police say Sunday's homicide is an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the community. Anyone who may have information related to the case, should call Investigator Dawn Johnson at 952-895-4594.
Assisting agencies during Sunday's incident were the Minnesota State Patrol, Eagan Police Department, Dakota County Sheriff's Department and the Lakeville Police Department.
