MN Vikings Place Carson Wentz On Injured Reserve; He’ll Miss Rest Of Season After Shoulder Surgery

EAGAN, MN — The Minnesota Vikings placed quarterback Carson Wentz on injured reserve Monday.
According to NFL Network and other reports, the veteran will undergo shoulder surgery that will end his 2025 season.
Wentz, 32, suffered the injury to his non-throwing shoulder during the Vikings’ Week 5 game in London against the Cleveland Browns but continued to play through it for several weeks.

With Wentz sidelined, second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy is expected to return as the starter when the Vikings (3-4) visit the Detroit Lions (5-2) on Sunday, Nov. 2. McCarthy has been rehabbing from a high-ankle sprain suffered in Week 2.
