12 Outdoor Ice Rinks To Open Monday In Edina

EDINA, MN — Edina is set to reopen a dozen of its outdoor skating rinks on Monday, though the outdoor ice at Centennial Lakes Park needs a few more weeks for freeze.

The 12 rinks have hockey and pleasure rinks, as well as warming houses and restrooms.

• Creek Valley Park, 6301 Gleason Ave.
• Highlands Park, 5200 Doncaster Way
• Lewis Park, 7300 Cahill Road
• Normandale Park, 6501 Warren Ave. S.
• Pamela Park, 4303 W. 58th St.
• Strachauer Park, 6200 Beard Ave.
• Todd Park, 4429 Vandervork Ave. S.
• Walnut Ridge Park, 5801 Londonderry Road
• Weber Park, 4115 Grimes Ave. S.

Most rinks are open from 4-9:30 p.m. on weekdays, from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturdays and from 1-8 p.m. on Sundays. Hockey rinks have limited hours Monday-Thursday each week because they are reserved for leagues and practices, officials said in a news release.

Heating Bill Help Available For Edina Residents This Winter

A pop-up rink at Wooddale Park, 4500 W. 50th St., will also be open during daylight hours, according to the release. The rink does not have lighting or restrooms.

Skating is free at outdoor rinks in Edina, while residents can also skate at Braemar Arena, 7501 Ikola Way, for a fee.

Several special events are planned over the next two months, including “Cookies & Cocoa” on Dec. 31 at Cornelia School Park and Outdoor Rink Family Skate Night on Jan. 28 at Pamela Park.

Edina officials are asking skaters to wear masks while inside warming houses to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
