2 Edina Schools Added To MDH Coronavirus Outbreak List

South View Middle School and Our Lady of Grace Catholic School joined two other Edina schools on the list Thursday.

EDINA, MN — South View Middle School is once again on the state’s list of facilities with recent coronavirus outbreaks after being removed from the list last week.

The Edina middle school was added to the Minnesota Department of Health’s most recent list, released Thursday, alongside Our Lady of Grace Catholic School. They join Concord and Creek Valley elementary schools, which have been on the list for several weeks.

The COVID-19 data dashboard for Edina Public Schools shows there have been 189 total coronavirus cases among students in the district this school year, as of Oct. 20. The district serves about 8,400 students.

The number of Hennepin County schools with recent coronavirus outbreaks continues to grow each week. There were 89 Hennepin County schools on Thursday’s list, a dozen more than last week.

Eighty Minnesota schools were added to the list Thursday, taking the state’s total to 639 schools with coronavirus outbreaks.

A school is considered to have an outbreak when it reports five or more confirmed cases of the virus in students or staff who were in the building while infectious during the most recent two-week reporting period.

Schools on the list may not have ongoing transmission, according to MDH officials. Schools are removed from the list after 28 days without any new cases.
