Corporate sponsors support scholarships for finalists who are children of employees, residents in the communities they serve or who plan to pursue an education in fields encouraged by the sponsor, according to the organization.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation plans to name about 4,000 additional winners in June and July. By the time all winners are announced, about 7,500 high school seniors will have won about $28 million in National Merit Scholarships in 2022, the organization said.
