Boy Hit By Motorcycle After Getting Off School Bus: Edina Police

EDINA, MN — An Edina elementary school student was hospitalized Monday after he was hit by a motorcyclist as he was getting off a school bus, according to police.

The boy suffered “significant” injuries that are not life-threatening, while the motorcyclist was arrested, police said.

An Edina Public Schools bus stopped around 2:45 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Xerxes Avenue and West 55th Street, with its stop-sign arm extended and lights flashing, police said.

A motorcyclist who was behind the bus tried to pass it by crossing into the opposite lanes of traffic, where they hit an “elementary school-aged boy crossing the roadway,” Edina police said.

The Edina Police Department has not publicly identified the motorcyclist who was arrested, as of 9 a.m. Tuesday.
