Braemar Golf Dome Holding Grand Opening This Weekend
The dome opened to the public on Nov. 9, a few months shy of two years after the last golf dome burned down.

The Braemar Golf Dome will celebrate its re-opening this weekend with appearances by local celebrities, a hole-in-one contest, giveaways and free lessons with pros.
The old golf dome burned to the ground in February 2012, and the city broke ground on the new dome in July.
The dome, which opened to the public on Nov. 9, features a new fire suppression system and improved insulation that will help melt snow on its roof.
It's been a tough time for golf in Edina, with revenues at Braemar and Fred Richards golf courses down about $325,000 over this time last year, according to the Star Tribune.
“Nationally, rounds of golf began to rebound after the lows of 2008 and 2009, so we were feeling fairly optimistic coming into this season,” Ann Kattreh, the city's parks and recreation director, told the paper. “But the poor weather this spring was really devastating to our budget this year.”
Kattreh said she hoped the golf dome would help offset some of our losses for the year.”
