Edina-Area Orgs Seeking Donations Thursday During GiveMN Event

Thursday is GiveMN's 13th annual "Give to the Max Day," with thousands of Minnesota organizations accepting donations until midnight.

EDINA, MN — Organizations throughout the Edina area are asking for donations Thursday as part of GiveMN's annual "Giving Holiday."

Thursday is the 13th annual “Give to the Max Day,” which organizers call a “celebration of generosity and a giant virtual hug to the causes that help our communities thrive.” The one-day event runs until midnight.

GiveMN’s list of Edina-area organizations participating in the event includes more than 2,000 entries, including fundraisers for local schools, charities, animal shelters, churches, foundations and clubs.

“Give to the Max Day” features several donation-boosting raffles, with each donor entered for a chance to win a “Golden Ticket” that gives them more money to donate to the causes they support. Golden tickets are drawn every 15 minutes.

Organizers are also hosting two “power hours” Thursday, which reward organizations who receive the most donations with an additional $6,000. Power hours are due to be held from 10-11 a.m. and 10-11 p.. Thursday.

Second Harvest Heartland Food Bank won morning power-hour race, with 263 donating more than $42,000 in donations. More than $746,000 in donations were made during the morning power hour.
