Edina Escapes Wrath of Power Outages
The Tuesday morning storm knocked out power to an estimated 70,000 homes.

A heavy thunderstorm blew through Edina early Tuesday morning, causing more than 70,000 outages around the Twin Cities metro area, according to Xcel Energy.
And while the storm definitely hit Edina, a minimal number of those outages were within the city limits. The storm knocked out power to quite a few Edina homes, but power had been restored to all but about 10 homes as of 10:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Xcel said it expects to have power restored to the vast majority of customers by 11 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, although all available resources are out right now engaged in restoration and that estimate can change.
