Edina High Star Wins 2 Titles At State Track And Field Meet
Maddie Dahlien also came close to successfully defending her 2021 state titles in two other events at last weekend's state meet.
EDINA, MN — Edina High School’s Maddie Dahlien, who was named the best girls soccer player in Minnesota last fall, capped her stellar senior year by winning two state track-and-field titles last weekend.
Dahlien won the Class AAA 200-meter dash with a time of 23.8 seconds, according to results from the Minnesota State High School League. She edged out Park Center’s Laubenra Ben and Maple Grove’s Jordyn Borsch, who both finished within a half-second of her time.

Dahlien also claimed first place in the long jump and came close to successfully defending her 2021 state titles in two other sprint events at the Class AAA track and field meet June 9-12 at St. Michael-Albertville High School.

She finished 0.03 seconds behind Borsch to claim second place in the Class AAA 100-meter dash, and she finished less than a half-second behind Borsch in the 400-meter dash, according to the MSHSL.

Dahlien won the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter dashes at the 2021 state meet.
Dahlien was named 2022 Ms. Minnesota Track and Field on Saturday by the Minnesota State Track & Field Coaches Association.

She also earned Minnesota’s “Ms. Soccer” title after scoring more than 30 goals and registering at least a dozen assists during her senior season at Edina High School.
Dahlien has committed to play soccer at the University of North Carolina, the No. 1 women's soccer program in the U.S., the Sun Current reported.
Edina High School finished in third place overall at the girls Class AAA state meet, with 63 points. Rosemount won the state meet with 93 points, while Minnetonka earned second place with 81 points, MSHSL statistics show.
