Edina Officer Hospitalized Following Crash

Squad car was struck near the intersection of W 76th Street and France Avenue.

An Edina Police officer on his way to for a medical call was reportedly injured during a car crash.

Police said an unnamed officer was driving near the intersection of 76th Street and France Avenue at around 7 a.m. when his squad car was struck by another vehicle.

Spokeswoman Molly Anderson said the officer was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center with "non-life threatening injuries."

"He will probably be held overnight, but we expect him to be OK," Anderson said.

The driver of the other vehicle was transported to Fairview Southdale with unspecified injuries. Anderson said she was not aware of any charges being pressed against the driver, as the Minnesota State Patrol is still investigating the incident.
