Edina Police 'Focus In' on Seat Belts and Child Safety in August
Edina police are on the lookout for adults not wearing seatbelts, though tickets will likely not be issued through the program.

As part of its "Focus In" campaign to give citizens gentle, non-ticketed guidance on small violations, the Edina Police Department this month is keeping a gimlet eye on child safety and seatbelt use.
"Often the requirements, use and proper installation of a child passenger restraint system are not clearly understood by those transporting children," the department wrote in a statement. "The Edina Police Department will enforce the use of seat belts and encourage residents to properly install children’s car and booster seats."
Other issues the department has targeted this year include failure to signal, unsafe equipment, failure to display headlights, bike safety and curfew laws.
“There are a lot of little problematic things that confuse people,” police chief Jeff Long told Patch in July. “Do adults have to wear seatbelts? Do I have to have lights on in just the rain, or snow too? Do I have to yield to a pedestrian—what if he waves me through the crosswalk—can I go then?”
