Edina Police Hosting Free Firearm Classes
The department will be holding a pair of classes aimed at encouraging responsible firearm ownership on June 18 and July 11.

In an effort to encourage responsible firearm ownership, the Edina Police Department and Edina Crime Prevention Fund are teaming up to host a pair of free classes for members of the public.
The two classes are scheduled for 7-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, and Thursday, July 11, at the South Metro Public Safety Training Facility. Attendees will take part in discussion and product demonstrations aimed at helping them learn about Minnesota laws regarding firearm ownership, concealed carry, safe storage of weapons and ammunition and child-gun safety.
“Whether you agree with stricter gun control or not, we can all agree that gun safety should be a top priority,” said Edina Police Chief Jeff Long.

Event organizers are encouraging entire families to attend one of the classes together or for parents to bring along young children to educate them on gun safety.
The sessions, which will be presented by a pair of Edina Police officers, are free and open to the public. No registration is required to attend and complimentary gun locks will be provided at both classes. Citizens can also bring in unwanted weapons and ammunition for disposal at no cost.
